At the end of the Course, Learners will be able to gain the following :

Technical Skills and Competencies

Knowledge

  1. Relevant regulatory requirements for handling cleaning chemicals are.
  2. Common chemical safety and hazard symbols and their meaning.
  3. Effects of cleaning chemicals on various surfaces.
  4. Types and uses of cleaning chemicals.

Abilities

  1. To check and assemble the assigned cleaning chemicals onto the cleaning trolley and/or janitor cart.
  2. Use assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling cleaning chemicals.
  3. Use cleaning chemicals in accordance with organisational procedures and guidelines.
  4. Ensure the cleaning chemical used are in its respective suitable containment of containers until cleaning begins.
  5. Ensure that the cleaning chemical is sufficiently loaded into the cleaning trolley and/or janitor cart before cleaning.
  6. Replenish cleaning chemicals to prepare for the next cleaning process.
  7. Report to the appropriate person when work cannot be carried out and/ or incidents occur.
  8. Handle incidents related to the inappropriate use of the cleaning chemicals in accordance with organisational procedures and regulatory requirements.

1. Overview of WSH Act and subsidiary legislations including practical information on supervising WSH at workplace.

2. Safety and Health Duties of a Supervisor.

3. Outlining safety planning and organization

4. Identifying job hazards and apply control measures

5. Assisting in carrying out risk assessment for work activities

6. Conducting safety inspections

7. Identifying the causes of accidents and recommend preventive measures

8. Conducting investigation and prepare an incident report
